About
Initiative 1
The objective of this proposal is to develop a novel methodology for glucose prediction that incorporate "big data" methods into the prediction algorithms to effectively increase the glucose prediction horizon for up to four hours and demonstrate that these new prediction methods can be successfully incorporated in modern closed-loop artificial pancreas systems. University of Virginia is a recipient of JDRF's research grant — Identification of Areas of Artificial Pancreas Algorithm Enhancements Through Big-Data Analysis — supported by Tidepool Big Data Donation Project.
Initiative 2
The University of Virginia is collaborating with Tidepool to develop data-driven solutions and digital tools that enhance diabetes self-management. Our research focuses on creating algorithms to analyze the effects of individual management patterns and building advanced visualization tools that quickly derive actionable insights from long-term data. The overarching goal is to improve personalized decision support for individuals living with diabetes and streamline data interpretation for clinicians.
