How it works
The Tidepool platform consists of two key pieces of software for clinicians and patients, Tidepool Data Platform and the Tidepool Uploader, with an additional companion app available for patients called Tidepool Mobile.
Get started with each below, with Tidepool supporting you and your IT team each step of the way.
The Tidepool platform at a glance
Tidepool Data Platform
Tidepool Data Platform is an interactive web app for visualizing diabetes device data from multiple devices all in one place.
Tidepool Uploader
Tidepool Uploader is a universal uploader app that allows you to quickly create a patient account and retrieve data from over 80 supported devices.
Tidepool Mobile
A notes app — and companion to Tidepool Data Platform — for iOS and Android that allows patients to add context that will display alongside their data to help you adjust their therapy.
Tidepool Data Platform
Tidepool Data Platform is where all your patients’ diabetes data comes together in an easy-to-navigate dashboard in your Google Chrome browser.
Visualize time a patient spends in their target range, frequency of pump maintenance tasks, and general glucose and insulin dosing trends displayed together from a variety of diabetes devices.
Download PDF reports to save, and with one click of a button, copy summary statistics and device settings into electronic health records (EHRs).
Basics view
A summary of your patient’s diabetes device interactions over the past three weeks, including info on insulin boluses and maintenance tasks like site changes.
Daily view
A day’s worth of integrated data from your patient’s glucose meter, CGM, insulin pump, and notes from their Tidepool Mobile app in one place.
Trends view
A 1-week, 2-week, or 4-week view of glucose trends from a meter or CGM alongside insights about averages, time-in-range, and a calculated glucose management indicator (GMI).
Tidepool Uploader
Tidepool Uploader is software for both Mac and PC that clinics can install to use as a universal device uploader for 85+ supported devices, including every major brand of insulin pump and CGM available in the United States and a variety of popular blood glucose meters and apps. Clinicians or medical assistants can create new patient accounts and upload device data with one tool.
Patients receive an email when their account is created in clinic, empowering them to continue to explore their data from home and on their smartphone. Your patients can also upload data on their own from home before their next visit, so you can spend more time focusing on what matters together.
Supported devices
Upload data from over 85 diabetes devices and apps and see device-specific walkthroughs to help your clinic get up and running.
Getting started with Uploader
A quick reference guide for your patients for getting started with and using Tidepool Uploader from home.
Easy to add new users
Adding a new patient is done right from your primary Tidepool Uploader workflow. Create a Tidepool account for them and we’ll take care of the rest.
Tidepool Mobile
Tidepool Mobile is an iPhone and Android companion app for patients to Tidepool Data Platform that lets them add context to their diabetes data, like adding notes about meals, exercise, or other data they want to track. These notes will appear alongside their data in Tidepool Data Platform.
With Tidepool Mobile on iOS, your patients can also connect to Apple Health for continuous, automatic syncing of their Dexcom mobile app and other health data.
View notes in Tidepool Data Platform
Uncover the context you’ve been missing to have a more complete understanding of your patient’s diabetes management goals by viewing the notes they’ve added to the data and seeing what data they choose to track.
A snapshot of insight
With each note created, your patients see a snapshot of their data that surrounds it. They can search for other times they ate the same meal or participated in the same activity to help uncover trends.
Passive upload of health data
Pull in info from your other health apps for a complete picture of your diabetes management.
