In our first Tidepool Loop blog post, on October 8, 2018, we let you know that Tidepool intends to deliver Loop as an FDA-regulated medical app. A few days later, we let you know that Omnipod DASH will be the first insulin pump compatible with Tidepool Loop.
I'll cut straight to the chase: This funding means that Tidepool can now, in earnest, hire the additional people we need to help us build, test, deliver, and support Tidepool Loop. If you'd like to consider being a part of the (completely remote!) Tidepool team, please head on over to tidepool.org/jobs, read about what it's like to work at Tidepool, and let us know if you'd be perfect for one of our current openings.
That's the #WeAreNotWaiting giant, and that's Tidepool standing on their shoulder. This image was shown at the November, 2018 DiabetesMine D-Data event.
I cannot overstate this: Tidepool is able to do this project because of the efforts of so many in the #WeAreNotWaiting movement. Thank you, Nate Racklyeft. Thank you, Ben West. Thank you, Pete Schwamb. Thank you, Katie DiSimone. Thank you to everyone who has ever contributed to OpenAPS, Nightscout, xDrip, or any of a dozen other innovative solutions that have shown how quickly the diabetes community can innovate.
As we said in our first post, we've already hired a couple of members of the Loop community, Pete Schwamb and Katie DiSimone, and we’re thrilled to have their passion and expertise on the team. We’re looking for more passionate people to help us bring Tidepool Loop to fruition.
Here are some of the key positions we hope you'll help us full:
One final note: Even with this funding from JDRF and The Helmsley Trust, we aren't out of the woods yet. We are still dependent on both device makers and private donors to step up and contribute to the effort. If you'd like to support us, please visit tidepool.org/donate.
Cheers,Howard
